Riverside, Cambridge
Located in the Riverside and Stourbridge Common Conservation Area , this project transformed a circa 1900 semi-detached home to address the client's need for a significant increase in family living space and a more functional internal layout. The project solved the limitations of the original property by extending the ground-floor dining area and kitchen , improving the first-floor bedroom and bathroom proportions , and creating a new bedroom with an en-suite within the loft. To respect the historic street scene , the design utilises materials that meticulously match the original building, including matching brickwork and slate roofing. Furthermore, as the site is situated within Flood Zone 3 and has a recorded history of flooding , the works integrated robust flood-resilient measures, such as elevated electrical outlets and a 600mm damp-proof membrane , to protect the home while enhancing its overall utility.
